This presentation on the basics of the GI Bill, new changes to the benefit, and holistic ways of supporting
our military connected population is geared toward Mānoa faculty and staff, specifically those who advise veterans and military connected students.
The Post 9/11 GI Bill was passed in 2008 and is currently the most utilized VA education benefit. With the passing of the Forever GI BILL, today’s veterans are guaranteed a lifetime access to earned education benefits and cementing the GI BILL as a cost of service, not a cost of war. Many of the new changes go into effect on August 1, 2018. This presentation aims to share those changes to better prepare faculty and staff who work with our military connected student population. The presentation will also update faculty and staff on how OVSS is supporting our military connected students more holistically at UH Mānoa.

• Strategies for advising military connected students more holistically
